Welcome to week Four of The Pre-Game, this week there will be three huge games to talk about across Hughson High. Here we will give you the best look inside some of the key players minds for a great prediction during the upcoming week in Huskies sports.
Boys Varsity Baseball February 10th 3:30pm V.S Pacheco @ Hughson High School
The boys varsity baseball team returns with a clean slate, they have lost great players but have brought in new ones. After falling short of the goal to win a section title this is the best chance they will have to bring home a blue banner. It all starts with a scrimmage this Monday against Pacheco. They are known to be one of the weaker teams in the area but should be a nice easy start to the season for the boys. This scrimmage is a great chance to see what pitching talent Hughson has this season and also should be fun to see what progress all the hitters have made in the off-season. Carlos Guizar stated, “I think we are going to do very well since we have been preparing for our first game for a couple months. I think the season is going to be very successful this year because we got players that are going to fill in key roles.”
Boys Varsity Basketball February 12th 7:00pm V.S Hilmar @ Hughson High School
The season continues to go downhill for the Huskies varsity basketball team and all you can think about from here on out is how much progression can be made for next year. The TVL is no joke and with as young of a team as Hughson it will take a lot to make a playoff team for next season. After falling last time on the road to the Yellowjackets, the boys seek a little revenge to close the season out on a positive note. With only a singular win in league this year it would be a big positive to get another one before the off-season arrives. Senior JC Lupercio says, “I think we’ll have a competitive game against Hilmar and it will be very fun since it’s our last game of the year. We had a lot of ups and downs throughout the year having games that helped us learn, overall our season was fun with the whole team.”
Boys Varsity Soccer February 10th 3:30pm V.S Riverbank @ Riverbank High School
The Huskies continue to make their late season playoff push showing determination on the field every single game. As they gear up to play an ex league team in Riverbank. They are typically extremely well rounded and finish high in the playoffs. They continue their season on a hot streak and both teams are eager to prove themselves worthy of a secure spot in the playoffs. Valente Soria said, “I think that the game will go really well because our team has been on a bad start and now we are getting the hang of it. From what I saw at practice our team has gained more chemistry. I think our season was decent because we had 3 ties which made our season bad.”
As another week in Husky sports arrives our athletes believe they’re going to achieve big goals and dominate in their respective sports with intense practices and dedication. Through the wins and losses we will always show support. Here’s to hoping our teams bring their best and make us all proud.
