There are many different events in track that you could do either running or throwing. Both equally as fun and competitive while competing. But what we’re really focusing on is 800’s which is two laps around the track and a mile, which is four laps around the track. 800´s are a fun and striving event which would require you to run around the track at fast speeds to cross the finish lines. And a mile is more pacing yourself and finding the right time to speed up.
People may think that 800’s is a distance event but people may disagree as they would say it was a sprinting event. Which could be both ways the goal is to still be first and cross the finish line first. Lizet Cortes says “Running the 800 is kinda hard and it was my first time running at a meet this year so it was kinda scary.” Running the 800’s is kinda hard as you have to basically sprint the whole thing while also racing against other people.
Miles can be very exhausting and can tire someone out very quickly. Unlike the 800´s the mile is a distance event and would require pacing through the laps and finding your speed. If you know what you know about your pace then you could easily make your way through the laps. Melanie Sanchez said “The thing that helped me the most was pacing myself.” Pacing can make a big difference in how you run but also finding your speed as you pass others and finish laps.
These two events would both be competitive and fun and would be a fun competition against others. There are many events on track which makes track more fun for everyone.
