Kelly Larson, also known as Mrs. Larson, has been teaching for twenty two years. Larson was inspired by her mother to become a teacher. She wanted to become a veterinarian by telling her mother she didn’t want to pursue that, so her mom recommended her to become a teacher. Larson’s favorite part about teaching is seeing her students succeed in life. Her favorite lessons to teach are Genetics and Animal Health. Larson “loves” being an AG teacher, she truly enjoys teaching students. If she was not a teacher, she would find her way back to Veterinary school. Larson’s goals for her students by the end of the school year are that “they leave my class knowing they learned so much in very little time.”
Larson’s way to adapt her teaching skills for students who have special needs is to use a collaborative learning classroom. She handles classroom discipline by setting clear expectations. Larson never has to deal with conflicts between students, only because she makes sure everyone is doing what they’re supposed to. Her way to engage students who are struggling is to talk about real life situations in their lessons. Larson’s way to handle stress is to spend time with her loving family. Her advice for someone who wants to become a teacher is to make sure the subject you’re teaching is the right one for you. Larson’s favorite memory at this school is when the Poultry Judging Team was named National Winners.
