Amy McAndrews has been teaching for 24 years. Mrs. McAndrews was inspired to be a teacher by her father and highschool teachers. She saw how amazing their lives were when they were teaching and helping kids so it inspired her. Mrs. McAndrews favorite part about teaching is “ watching my students become more mature and enter their adulthood.”
Mrs. McAndrews favorite lessons to teach are “Real life Wednesday” lessons. Real life Wednesday lessons are about being successful as an adult. McAndrew loves teaching, she loves being able to talk about the important things in life. If Mrs. McAndrews was not a teacher; she would have loved to be a nurse.
Mrs. McAndrews goals for her students by the end of the school year is to “enjoy your high school days with your friends, and have as much fun as possible.”
Mrs. McAndrews way to adapt with students who have special needs is to adapt to what help they need. When there are conflicts between students in her class she tries to talk it out with the students involved. When Mrs. McAndrews notices that one of her students is struggling, she tries her best to help them in any way possible. That could be emailing them, or asking other students to help them out.
Mrs. McAndrews way to handle stress is by exercising, spending time with family, and/or reading books. Mrs. McAndrews advice for anyone who would like to become a teacher is that, “It will be the hardest but most rewarding job ever.” McAndrews favorite memory at Hughson High is when “Bernard, Bland, Brown, and I lip synced to Call Me Maybe and the whole school sang with us.”
