After a long day, Iraqi Republican Guard Lieutenant Salim comes home after being relieved from his duties as an Iraqi soldier and returns home to his son, Zain with a gift to celebrate him getting accepted to the University of London. Salim searches the house for his son but is nowhere to be found and then he finds a note on his bed saying he was over at his friends house. He tried to call the friend’s house to check on him. Before he could call him, An army truck came blaring next to his house and his leader, Omar, delivered news that the Americans were coming and Salim was reluctant to leave because he wanted to find his son. He eventually agreed and went inside to grab his rifle and promised his son that he would be home soon.
We turn our attention to the Americans. Two helicopters approach the Zagros Mountain, they are like 10 miles out. Everyone prepares. Before they prepare to drop in, Jason notices Nick looking pale and I figured out why. It’s because he is thinking about a job that they had few weeks back at a checkpoint that was targeted by suicide bombers. Jason tells Nick that he has his back and that he would have to pull himself together.
Eric asks everyone to be prepared to engage. Some of the shepherds spot the helicopters coming in. Jason and Nick descend down to the LZ and Jason says to “hold your fire, we are going to PSYOP this.” They demand the shepherds to get on the floor with their hands on their heads. They search the huts and Rachel questions the shepherds about information about the underground silo. Jason accompanies Rachel in help of interrogating the shepherds. Rachel is bilingual so she can speak Arabic. In Arabic, She asks “Where is the silo”. One of the shepherds turned their heads at a wooden carving.
Jason inspects the carving and as he inspects it he cuts himself. It had barbed wire around the carving. Apparently, It was an effigy. An effigy is a sculpture or model of a person. Rachel asks one of the shepherds in Arabic “What does this mean”. The shepherd responds in a threatening tone “You will soon find out.”
Before they could find out more, A rocket hit one of the helicopters and the Iraqi soldiers ambushed them led by Dar and Salim. A lot of soldiers were killed from both sides. Jason hides behind cover and finds a shepherd hiding with him.
Jason demands him to get on the floor or then he will shoot him. The shepherd starts running away and in the end he didn’t shoot him because they were innocent. A gun sounds behind him and Jason tells the soldier to not miss.
It was Salim and he saw Jason spare the shepherd. In the end, Salim couldn’t shoot him and he said “No more killing.” Salim puts his gun down. The mountain shakes and the floor collapses and all the soldiers left standing fall through the mountain floor. The American soldiers will soon find out that the Iraqi soldiers are not the most dangerous things they will find down there.
