Katelyn Tavernier also known as Mrs. Tavernier has been teaching for 2 years. What inspired Mrs. Tavernier’s desire to become a teacher and was being fortunate enough to “have exceptional math teachers who not only made the subject engaging but also inspired me to think critically and see the world through a different lens. I wanted to pay it forward, helping the next generation of students find the same inspiration, confidence, and excitement in learning that I had experienced.” Mrs. Tavernier’s favorite lessons to teach are on measures of central tendency, factoring, and solving equations. Tavernier really enjoys being a Math teacher! If Mrs. Tavenier was not a teacher she would have liked to have been an accountant. Mrs. Tavernier’s goal for her students by the end of the school year is to make progress.
Mrs. Tavernier’s way to adapt with students who have special needs is to slow down lessons and provide extra time on assignments. Tavernier’s way to handle classroom discipline is to set certain expectations. Mrs. Tavernier’s way to handle conflicts between students is to also set clear expectations and encourage respectful behavior. Tavernier’s way to engage with students who are struggling is to make sure they know that she is always there for them to help them. Mrs. Tavernier’s way to handle stress is to set clear boundaries for herself and not deal with work after 4 p.m. Mrs. Tavernier’s advice to those who would like to become a teacher is to just go for it, it is challenging but is very rewarding. Mrs. Tavernier has many favorite memories here but her favorite one is probably anything that has to do with Friday Night Lights.
