In track and field, there are mostly running events, but there are some other types of events that can also be done. These are called throwing events, which would show strength and form. Most people would do throwing events if they’d have more arm strength and if they’d do better in a strength type event.
Throwing consists of more of the form, in which you throw it. Since form is important you’d have to make sure you can throw the disk or the shot put farther and smoothly. There are two types of throwing, Discus and Shot put. Both still strength events and a competition in who can throw it farther than the other.
ShotPut is a type of throwing event that consists of a heavy metal ball. The rules stay exactly the same as any other throwing events. Except the Shots are harder to throw which would lead to more strength than form as you have to throw it with as much strength as you can without hurting yourself. Silah leazer says, “Shot does require form but I think it’s more strength involved than form.” Most of these throwing events are from induced but shotput is a little more about arm strength.
The other throwing event is Discus, which is similar to Shot Put but instead is a disk almost like a frisbee. Like shot the rules are the exact same for discus. This time, form is more important as you have to make a different approach to throw the disk. Strength is still a property that it has to possess but the way you throw it and get enough momentum to throw it as far as possible. Amaneet Thandi says, “I like discus more than doing shotput since it’s more about how you throw it and it’s the one i’m better at.” These two events are both the same rules, yet both are still very competitive, and some of the most popular ones out of them all.
