Guadalupe Castillo also known as Mr. Castillo has been teaching for 21 years. Castillo’s mother inspired him to become a teacher by “Planting a seed in my head and my heart early on as a child.” Mr. Castillo’s favorite lessons to teach are AP Spanish. Castillo’s favorite part about teaching is the interacting and sharing what he knows with his students. Castillo very much enjoys being a World Language teacher. If Castillo was not a teacher, he would have been a social worker or a psychologist. Castillo’s goal for his students by the end of the school year is that his students gain a broader appreciation for the Spanish language and the culture. Mr. Castillo’s way to adapt with students who have special needs is to arrange his lessons a little more to help them out.
Castillo’s way to handle classroom discipline is to create a good rapport with his students. Which allows his students to let him talk and correct their mistakes and behavior. Castillo’s way to handle conflicts in his classroom is to be neutral to both students and follow the PBIS standards. Strategies Castillo uses to engage students who are struggling is to utilize his lessons that engage students with the multiple intelligence approach. Mr. Castillo handles stress by taking it “Un dia a la vez” which means “One day at a time.” Castillo’s advice for someone who wants to become a teacher is do it! He states, “Enjoy the journey, for the reward is great.” Mr. Castillo’s favorite memory at this school by far are his past students who come by his room and say hello to him.
