This fantasy book follows two sisters, Scarlett and Donetella, but it mostly is through Scarlett’s perspective. They live with their abusive father and Scarlett has been obsessed with the idea of Caraval which is a magical event that travels once a year that only goes to each location once and you have to be invited to be able to enter and it is ran by a mystical man named Legend that no one has truly been able to meet. Their grandma got to go there when she was younger and would tell the girls about it and Scarlett got obsessed with the magical parts of it and Tella loved the idea of how it can make people go mad and truly be a villain in a story… then Scarlett got an invitation to the next Caraval but it’s right before she’s meant to get married so what should she do?

I really liked the idea of this book but I just wish it had more. At times I felt like it was being rushed and I was very confused by what was going on and it just felt like they would be at the bottom of a staircase and now they are in a bedroom. I also wish there was just more story, so many people hyped up this series too! And I really wanted to love it.
