On May 12, 2025, Hughson High hosted their annual Night of the Arts. Numerous works of art were on display in the school gymnasium, and the school choir and band performed in the theater for parents and students. Throughout the three hours of the event, numerous parents, students, and community members gathered to explore and appreciate the hard work and effort students put into their pieces throughout the year.
Jack Bland, the photography teacher, and Nicholas Brown, the art teacher, were the coordinators of the event. Bland has been a part of the Night of the Arts for the past four years and explains, “It is a year long process.” The numerous tables, art works, prints, and sculptures displayed take time to set up, but all of it is worth it. Creating these works takes time, and both Bland and Brown “want to show the community how talented our student artists are.”
During the four years Bland has been a part of Night of the Arts, it has grown even more successful. He observes, “Every year it draws a larger crowd compared to the previous year.”
Amy Alvarado, a senior and digital photography student, states, “I love seeing the photos that I took being displayed. I also loved seeing all the artwork not just from my friends, but every talented art and photo student.” The Night of the Arts gives students an opportunity to have their works on display and the chance to appreciate the work of others. Mariana Cortes, a digital photography student, expressed, “Everyone’s art all came out breathtaking. Truly inspiring.”
The Night of the Arts is a stage for students to showcase their abilities and talents to both family and the community. It is a night to remember and look forward to attending for years to come.
