We turn our attention to Eric and Rachel. After they fell, Eric was knocked out and was dreaming about when they were married when Rachel woke him up and asked if he was okay and responded that he was okay and that he just bumped his head. They made their way down to the ruins and saw some statues of Pazuzu, a Sumerian demon of plague, famine, and droughts. They heard what sounded like clicking down into the hole of the ruin. They got the rope from their pack and descended down into what looks like a throne room.
They threw flares down as it was dark in here. They see what looks like archaeological tents and equipment. Eric realizes that this stuff is what Caelus detected. He realized he had messed up and apologized to Rachel. She accepts his apology and they hope to get out of there. There was a generator but it was out of fuel. They find some gas cans and fill it up. Eric asks where she got that lighter and she responds by saying she picked it up back at base. As they are fixing the generator, Eric says that he missed her and that he wants her back. It was hard for her to reconnect with Eric after they left it and how they left it
They got the generator working and examined a tape recorder. The tape started and apparently it was a British Archaeologist who was on track of finding an ancient ruin in the Zagros Mountains in 1946. He tells how the expedition, setting their foot on the temple, awakened something ancient and wicked, a blasphemy that came in indescribable shapes and forms. Randolph said that for eons they had lived like children in the world, unaware of the horrors that lay beneath their feet, and now, they had blindly thrown open the gates to madness. In the end, he said that he feared being taken, but he must do what he must, sealing the temple for the sake of all mankind. Randolph apologized to his wife, Mary and shot himself and the tape ended. After that, Rachel and Eric hear what sounds like someone descending on one of their ropes.
It was Dar and he opened fire on Rachel and Eric, After they ran outside of the temple, Rachel tried to communicate with her unit to ask for help. They eventually tried to shimmy their way through a ravine but another earthquake knocked Rachel off balance and fell into a slope. Eric threw a rope to Rachel and hooked it to his harness. She fell down the slope into the ravine but the rope saved her but dragged Eric down the slope too. He was slowly getting dragged off the edge. He tried his best to pull her up but to no avail. He was so close to the edge and was in fear of his and her life. When he was sure he was about to die, Jason and Nick showed up to the rescue and slid down the slope and caught Eric before he fell and then the rope snapped and Rachel fell into the ravine.
