12:25 pm
I’ve just pulled into this place on the Sonoma County coast and I can hardly contain my excitement. It’s the escape I’ve been waiting an eternity for. The sun is shining bright, the water is fresh and cool, and it feels like nothing’s in my way.
2:00 pm
In the last couple minutes, the breeze from the west has grown much stronger. I can see deep grey clouds intensifying on the horizon. I swore that the weather report said there would be no threats of rain for at least another week.
2:45 pm
The clouds are growing taller and look even darker. I went down to the local burger place and got a nice cheeseburger with fries. As I was driving back to the beach, the wind was blowing even harder; to the point where you can feel it affecting the aerodynamics of your car.
3:45 pm
The cold front has arrived over the coast. I have no idea whether it will rain or not; I am praying to the weather gods that it won’t.
3:55 pm
Mother Nature, you suck.
4:30 pm
A very strong gust just came in and knocked me to my feet. The rain has stopped shellacking me, but I’m even more nervous now, because I parked underneath some trees that looked quite shallow rooted. And this car is the best I’ve ever had the privilege of driving in my life. I remember the day I bought this beautiful Pontiac Aztek from a used car lot; it was so stunning and I knew she’d be mine forever. As I was writing this, another gust took my notebook out of my hand and flung it into the woods.
4:45 pm
This has gotta be the most wicked wind I’ve ever experienced.
