FFA has made a huge impact on people all over the world, and one of those people is Lance Curry. Lance says, “I joined FFA in 2024, which was my eighth-grade year, so that I can show pigs and join the livestock judging team.” Since Lance joined FFA, he has won many titles and continues to do so. In his free time, he likes to go to school and enjoys playing football and pickleball. After Lance graduates from high school, he hopes to go to Kansas State to pursue livestock judging while getting his Ag Business degree. If he does not get into Kansas State, he would also love to go to OSU.
Joining FFA has offered great opportunities and lots of learning experiences. Lance states, “My biggest learning curve has been to have a good attitude and take criticism from others. When I first started showing, I always had a bad attitude about things and wouldn’t take suggestions from my dad or uncle, so I had to learn how to take criticism and learn from that.” Since then, Lance has said that he is forever grateful to his parents and his uncle, and they have played a big role in his FFA career and have always supported him.
Lance has made so many great memories, one of them being the 2025 Stanislaus County Fair Market Hog Grand Champion in June. He says that it is one of his greatest accomplishments, and he is very proud of it. Although success is always nice, it can be e asy to get in your head and feel unmotivated. When some people feel that way, all they want to do is give up and not care about anything anymore, but not Lance. He says, “Something that motivates me when I am challenged is knowing the fact that my hard work will pay off, and I will succeed.” No matter what, he continues to work hard and stay dedicated to his tasks. He also says, “My family helps push me to meet my goals and succeed.” Even though there have been some setbacks, Lance always strives to be the best version of himself, and he will continue to do so.
