A new math teacher just started his first year here. His name is Ryan Tury. He was recommended by Mr. Lighthall, whom he met at a mock interview, to teach math at Hughson High School. He says his first day here was August 3rd in preparation for the upcoming school year.
He was asked if math was always his favorite subject, and according to him, he said, “Yes, but I did like other subjects, but math was my favorite.” He went to college at CSU Stanislaus.
Some of his students say they really like him so far. They say he has good teaching methods and his class is fun when you pay attention and take good notes on what he is teaching. One of his students, Noah Caton, said, “He will be a loved teacher.” Students say he makes math class way more enjoyable for them.
We also got to talk to Lighthall about him. From his perspective, it seems Mr. Tury will have a long future here, and that he likes him. Everybody feels good about him, and he will certainly be a favorite for some students.
A few fun facts about Ryan: he grew up in Turlock, math was mostly his favorite subject, he wanted to teach since his junior year of high school, and he likes baseball. He is going to be a great addition to HHS!
