For some students, it can be hard to balance their academics with other extracurricular activities. When you only have about twelve hours in a day, it can be difficult for students to get everything done on time.
Karlie Peterson, a sophomore at Hughson High School says, ”I don’t think that most teachers realize how much work we get cumulatively. So when I go to practice, I have less time than students without sports to do my homework.” When a student is trying to manage going to school on top of either sports, family matters, or homework, it can put a lot of stress on the student to try and get everything done. Peterson says a way that students can try and keep up in school is to talk to their teachers and figure out a system that works for both the teacher and the student. Communication is the best way to work things out; if your teacher doesn’t know what you need, they can’t help you.
Peterson also states, “I think most students need to work really hard in class to prevent work getting sent home, and manage time well, since there is less time in the afternoons.” Time management is definitely a big role in the lives of students at Hughson High School.
