Gabby Gordo, a girls’ volleyball player, has entered her sophomore season as a Hughson Huskies athlete. Gordo is on the JV team as a defensive specialist. She started playing volleyball in sixth grade at Hickman Middle School. Gordo says, “The best way as an athlete to get better is to put in lots of time, effort, and practice”.
Gabby is an outstanding academic, along with being a three-sport athlete as of last year. As of now, Gordo is maintaining a 4.0. She has competed in volleyball, soccer, and track. “Having little time to do homework and other activities, as well as being tired most of the time, makes being a student athlete difficult.”
One of her fellow teammates, Violet Blake, states, “Gabby is very encouraging to our team, she’s also very hard working, she is coachable and very smart in how she plays. She never gives up. She’s very cheerful and is an amazing teammate to be around.” Gordo’s close friend “Gabby is one of my really close friends and I can just go to her when I have a problem cuz I know she will always help me.”
We have enjoyed watching Gabby compete in sports throughout the years and can’t wait to see what the rest of her high school career brings.
