Life Group is a student-led club at Hughson High School that focuses on Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. The leadership team that helps spread the Lord’s word is Addley Poulson, Judson Perryman, Zacary Den Dulk, Isabella Avila, Kendra Rice, Gracie Hammond, Kaitlyn LaFountain, Addison Taber, Katelyn Rice and Mrs. Taber. “Life Group is a space for students to discuss and study the Bible… It encourages spiritual growth while allowing fellowship and prayer among students. We promote Christian values as well as serving the school and community through faith-based outreach and service.” Life Group President, Poulson stated.
For many students, this space of constant prayer and emotion within their fellow classmates provides an outlet to share their faith. Perryman said, “What made me want to be a part of Life Group was the opportunity to be able to share the Gospel with people who are curious or who just want to be built up in Christ.” The leadership team finds so much passion in bringing people together and talking about the Lord. People of different backgrounds, home life, and even those who never really thought about finding Christ, find it moving to hear the people around them telling their stories and how they grew a closer relationship with Christ. The amount of emotion Life Group brings out in people is spectacular. When asked the question, Why did you decide to join and lead Life Group? They collectively as a whole said, “We joined to better each of our relationships with God.”
Students emphasized that Life Group is about both faith and community. “Everyone is welcomed and supported as we learn together and deepen our relationship with Christ,” LaFountian said. To be a part of this group or club, you do not need to be Christian or any other religion. It is for everyone to feel welcomed, even if you just attend for the food they provide, they will still pray for you and everyone around you.
As the year continues to go on, the leadership team says that they are most excited for seeing the growth, both personally and in others. They believe that Christ has a plan for every single person. Life Group is a place where students can come together, support each other, and grow in their faith. By fostering community, encouraging open discussion, and welcoming all who might be interested, the group creates an environment where lasting connections and personal growth can begin to flourish. Whether through studying the Bible, serving the community, or simply sharing time with friends, Life Group strives to make a meaningful impact on spreading the Gospel all throughout the campus.
