For many FFA students, the program is a chance to make new friends, experience new opportunities, and learn lifelong lessons. For Jocelyn Qarqat, however, FFA has become much more than that.
Jocelyn has been a member of FFA since her freshman year. Before joining, she spent four years in 4-H, where she began showing a replacement heifer. Since then, Jocelyn has participated in numerous FFA activities and competitions, including Opening and Closing and the Creed competition. She has also attended the state FFA conference. This year, Jocelyn will take her passion even further, traveling to Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention.
“One thing that inspired me to start showing in FFA is my sister. She was a big inspiration in this process,” Jocelyn shared during her interview. Like her sister, Jocelyn hopes to become a role model in FFA and encourage other students to join for the chance to make a difference.
Jocelyn is an important part of FFA at Hughson High School. Not only is she dedicated and talented, but she is also smart, kind, and funny. She sets a strong example for her peers, showing that with passion and effort, anyone can achieve great things through FFA.
