Some people might think drama is only about acting and memorizing lines, but it’s much more than that. Drama provides an opportunity to try new things, step out of your comfort zone, and meet new people.
For Erin Lockwood, who once described herself as introverted and shy, drama has helped her become more outgoing and confident.
Erin originally joined drama after a friend told her it was a supportive and positive environment. Now, in her first year, she shared her favorite part so far: “Probably the positive atmosphere and the way no one is stopping you from doing what you want to do.”
Although drama can seem intimidating, scary, or judgmental to some, Erin was able to overcome those fears. Through the experience, she gained confidence and discovered a new sense of self. She hopes her story will inspire others not only to join drama, but also to try new things and feel more confident about stepping outside their comfort zones.
