By now, I’m sure you’ve heard of the hit movie K-Pop Demon Hunters. It has already broken several records, including becoming the most-watched Netflix movie of all time. Its soundtrack went number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks straight, became the highest-charting soundtrack of 2025 on the Billboard 200, and achieved many more milestones. What makes this even more impressive is that these records are being broken by a fictional girl group!
For some background, the movie follows a trio of demon hunters who also happen to be a K-Pop group. Using the power of music and their voices, they slay demons. Whenever they sing, they protect the human world with a magical barrier called the “Wholemoon.” The group faces off against a rival boy band—who are secretly demons—known as the “Saja Boys.” The story becomes even more complicated when it’s revealed that Rumi, the main girl in the trio, is half-demon. Together, the group, named Huntrix, must defeat the Saja Boys, take down the demon leader Gwi-Ma, and finally seal the Wholemoon.
We were also able to talk to a few fans about the film. One fan shared that their favorite character was Jinu and that their favorite song was Soda Pop. Another fan also said, “My favorite character was Jinu.” She went on to say her favorite moment was when they sang Free, which is also her favorite song.
