Photography is one of the best ways people can express themselves and be creative. Imagine a life without photos and images—we wouldn’t be able to experience and learn so many things. At Hughson High School, there is a class just for this. Amaneet Thandi, a sophomore, is just one of many students who take this elective to learn more about photography and how it works.
This is Amaneet’s first year in digital photography. When asked why she took the elective, she said, “It seemed really interesting and fun. I also wanted to learn more about the cameras and how they work.” Something Amaneet found challenging was editing her photos: “The hardest part about photography for me was editing the photos just the right amount, making sure not to take away from the photo.”
On the other hand, one of the coolest things she has learned is, “…how different angles of the same item can create totally different images.” Some of her inspiration comes from her teacher, Mr. Bland, who is “very helpful and encouraging.”
Although Amaneet agrees that photography is very interesting and fun to learn about, she doesn’t think she wants to pursue it as a career and sees it more as a fun hobby.
