A new teacher at Hughson High School has already made a big impression! Daniel (DJ) Sexton was named Teacher of the Month for September, with the award presented to him by Cameron Kroll.
Sexton shared that receiving the recognition was an unexpected but meaningful honor. “Pretty excited — I didn’t expect to win it, so it was pretty cool to win it,” he said. He also added that the award felt extra special because Kroll personally noticed his efforts in teaching. Sexton humbly mentioned that he believes every teacher on campus deserves to win the award.
Students also had great things to say about Mr. Sexton, describing him as open and engaging in his teaching style. One student said he’s “a good teacher and deserves it,” adding that “he’s an amazing teacher because he teaches great.”
Cameron Kroll shared why Sexton stood out, saying, “He cares greatly for his students and the HHS community. He has a great sense of humor and always brings positivity to the classroom.” Kroll added that Sexton truly deserves the award and consistently brings his A-game to teaching.
