Husky in the Hot Seat: Mr. Baker

Hailey Dimter, Staff Writer

Hailey: Name?

Brett Baker

Hailey: What do you teach?

Baker: Agriculture Equipment Repair I/II, Agriculture Woods, Agriculture Mechanics Survey.

Hailey: A little about yourself.

Baker: In my spare time I love working around my house with my fiance, Monica. Whether I am doing yard work or tinkering in a small wood shop, I love to keep busy. In addition, Monica and I have two puppies (Reagan and Rory) that we probably treat more like children. We spend a lot of time playing, walking, and running with them which keeps us outdoors! One of our favorite places to go is Knights Ferry where we hike and splash in the river with the pups! I also coordinate a men’s league softball team in Turlock where we get together and play once a week. Lastly, I am very much a family man. If I am not at work, playing softball, or in the wood shop, I am with my family. We love to get together and have dinner, watch movies, and take our annual summer trip to Felton, Ca!

Hailey: A piece(s) of advice you would give to your students.

Baker: Your life is filled with opportunities. High school is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would encourage all students to take full advantage of this opportunity to develop lifelong friendships, memories, & skills! Whether it is athletics, academics, or agriculture, there is something for everyone here at Hughson High School! Do not let your four years pass you by without fully exploring YOUR opportunity!

Hailey: Your favorite quote:

Baker: Most people miss Opportunity because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. – Thomas A. Edison
