To kick off the school year, HYLC hosted a car wash to raise money and help students get their community service hours. The car wash was held last Saturday, September 10, 2022. It was a very successful car wash.

Mrs. Newsome, the HYLC club advisor said, “The money we make goes towards the end of the year field trip and senior scholarships.”

A total of 39 kids were there to help out for the HYLC Car Wash, and a total of $900 was made.

“Si lo recomiendo porque ayuda a aumentar tus horas para la comunidad, y es divertido con la música que ponen,” says Brenda Robles, a sophomore that helped out at the car wash.

Translation: “I recommend it because it helps increase your community hours and the music that they play is fun,” says Brenda Robles, a sophomore that helped out at the car wash.

Mrs. Newsome’s last words about the car wash were, “I want to give a real big shout out to Hughson HYLC. I’m extremely proud of their work ethic, and the way they came together.”
