Teacher Of The Month: Mrs. Maciel

Yasmin Duran Ortiz, Staff Writer

Our teacher for the month for October is Mrs. Maciel! She teaches Farm to Fork, Veterinary Science, Plant Science and Landscape/crops here at Hughson High. She has taught for three years.

Mrs. Maciel graduated from Hughson High in 2015, then attended California State University, Chico. She majored in Agricultural sciences with an emphasis in education and specialized in Animal Science.

During the month of July, Mrs. Maciel attended the Stanislaus County Fair for 18 days straight advising the dairy, meat and breeding goats, and rabbit groups.

When asked about her agriculture experiences, Mrs. Maciel said, “Growing up I was actively involved here in the FFA program and was the chapter president for 2 years and served in higher roles within the organization as well.”

“I was surprised and honored to be recognized as teacher of the month. It truly meant a lot to me as the teacher who nominated me was one of my highschool ag teachers, Mr.Ellington,” said Mrs. Maciel as she talked about how she felt on receiving teacher of the month.

Mrs. Maciel enjoys that as she teaches, she gets to watch the students grow with time. She claimed, “They learn from all the staff over the years, they develop their own rational and morals that shape their personalities”.
