HHS Teacher Shares Advice on Getting Through Finals

Johnny Martinez, Staff Reporter

The end of the first semester is coming quite fast, and with that comes finals week! HHS students and staff are all preparing vigorously for finals, tests, and any other challenges that might cross them along the way. Although finals can be difficult for the average student, everyone has their different experiences, so staff and teachers are here to help you prepare!

Teachers are being very cautious and taking their time to teach their students carefully to prepare. English teacher Jillian Jimenez says, “I plan to give them in class time to prepare and ask questions. I also plan to give them the grading rubric ahead of time so they know exactly what my expectations are.” During finals, the most important part of your studies is to retain key information or topics and get close to your teacher’s expectations of your work!

Jimenez also stated, “Do not procrastinate. Start planning now to make sure you are prepared to complete all the assignments or study guides needed to be prepared for the final.” Procrastination will only lead to complications! If you want a good head start on your studies or need extra time to learn it all, it’s better to start ahead of time! It’s never too early to run the track!

Although finals are a natural part of high school, they can be stressful for a lot of people. Jimenez replied, “I think it is stressful for many students, especially freshmen because it is the first time they are experiencing finals. I also think others that receive finals passes are relieved and excited that all their hard work throughout the semester has paid off.”

Finals are creeping around the corner for everyone here at HHS, including YOU! All you need to do is keep your head up and believe in yourself. Everyone has a chance, take yours and try!
