Husky in the Hot Seat: Mr. Michaelis

Tommy McCullough, Staff Writer

Tommy: How long have you taught at Hughson High?

Michaelis: This is my 9th year at HHS.

Tommy: Have you always wanted to be a teacher?

Michaelis: Not always.  While in college I got a part time job as a tutor.  I loved it and decided to pursue teaching.

Tommy: What do you like most about being a teacher?

Michaelis: The actual teaching.

Tommy: If you could make one thing stick with your students what would it be?

Michaelis: You need to invest your time and effort into learning.

Tommy: Did anything inspire or influence you to want to become a teacher?

Michaelis: I had good/great teachers in high school and college. Along with the first teaching job I had, they inspired me.

Tommy: What is one thing everyone should know about you?

Michaelis: I’m a private kind of guy.

Tommy: What do you like to do in your free time?

Michaelis: Read and listen to music.

Tommy: Who was your role model when you were growing up, why did you look up to them?

Michaelis: My mother.  She was a single parent and worked hard to give her three children all the opportunities they could have.

Tommy: What is one of your favorite movies and why is it your favorite?

Michaelis: I like lots of movies for lots of different reasons.  It’s too hard to name just one.

Tommy: What is your all time favorite quote?

Michaelis: “Live forever or die trying.”

Tommy: Anything else we should know about you?

Michaelis: Nope, I’m pretty boring.
