Hughson Football Takes State Title
December 16, 2022
On a cold and rainy night the town of Hughson came out to watch the Huskies beat the Mustangs. Cars parked miles away, lines flooded with people down the road, umbrellas up and ponchos on, hand warmers and hot chocolate keeping everyone warm.
There was a lot of heart in this game coming from both teams. Not knowing what the outcome of the game would be, the boys poured their hearts out to beat those Mustangs.
The stands were filled with people from each side. With the rain and the cold, it was definitely not a day to play, but the boys played the game like a normal sunny day. We have to give a huge shout out to our defense for putting this team on the podium. Without them our team would be just a bunch of offenes!
Only winning 9-6, thank goodness for that safety because even though we were doing a good job, we wouldn’t have made another touchdown. Stalling time and making those mustangs stress for our next move, Mcdaniel was able make a pass to Bridgford giving us a 5 yard TOUCHDOWN!
Mcdaniel playing like never before IN THE RAIN! Where did this come from! He sure put some heart into throwing those passes. We had a lot of runs but no touchdowns. This year has been such a roller coaster with these boys. They definity made this team unforgettable. In the first quarter there were alot of ups and downs but we recovered from that. The boys wanted to start strong in the first quarter and they did but making fumble recoveries, touchdowns and runs. The score was 7-0 now.
Here comes the second quarter we didn’t do our best Muir made a touchdown because we weren’t on our feet. The score is 9-6 because we got the safety. Third quarter was really just them making runs hoping muir doesn’t score.
Fourth quarter is here the boys held Muir from making plays and TDs hoping the time ran out for them to take the win and it did so. And here it is: Hughson Huskies won championships this game was more than just a game for the boys. They have to say goodbye to each other because it is the last year for some of them.
The boys are gonna miss the seniors, this year the boys became more than friends they became family that won together. A Lot of ups and downs and people saying they can’t do it but they pushed that aside they fought as hard as they could to be here and do it for them but also the community and their family.
