For the month of August, the teacher of the month is Mr.Zylstra. Zylstra teaches grades 9th through 12th, the subjects he teaches are Math One, Math Three Accelerated, AP calculus and programming.

He received his Bachelor’s degree from Vanguard University and his Masters degree from Western Governors University. Zylstra stated, “I enjoy teaching and always knew that I would be working with high school students”. Adding on, what Zylstra enjoys most about teaching is that every day is unique and has its own adventure.

Zylstra has been teaching since 1987, and at Hughson High School since 1997. What he enjoys most about the Hughson community is the parents and students who thrive to make Hughson a great place.  A piece of advice to students from Zylstra, “Be diligent in your studies-’The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy will be put to forced labor!’  Proverbs 12:24”. As for being nominated for teacher of the month, Zylstra expressed feeling honored to be included with many talented teachers at Hughson High School.
