The Lady Huskies were up to battle the Summerville Bears in the first set. The Lady Huskies were killing the ball and the Bears struggled to fight back. Their coverage was weak which cost the Bears many points throughout the game. The Lady Huskies took the 1st set, 25-19. The second set started and the Bears started losing energy quickly and score began to take a toll. The Huskies had a lead and they fought hard to keep the lead, and they did just that. The Huskies ended a phenomenal set winning 25-13.
But the game is not over. The Lady Huskies and Bears go back at it for a third set. The Huskies get greedy but begin to lose. The stakes were high for the Huskies because if they lose, the Bears are guaranteed a 4th set. Lady Huskies Middle, Madi Duron, commented on the comeback stating “That was embarrassing..I mean it was definitely not how we wanted the set to go..I feel like we kinda got ahead of ourselves with our second set.” The Lady Huskies were battling but still were down, Duron quoting Coach Kaci Brazi. “We needed to control the controllables, and I feel like we weren’t really controlled.”
The Lady Huskies battled back in that third set, the ball was passed back and forth but the Lady Huskies were doing great on serve receive, taking the ball back along with the lead, they were loud and proud, and played like no other. The Bears were unprepared for what was hitting them just like our Huskies kills. The Huskies finished the game off on a nail biter, taking the win home 25-22. Coach Brazil says “I felt good about the win, but I want to continue to raise the standard for our team.” Also speaking on behalf of the comeback Brazil says “ I was not happy about that, I definitely felt that we let them back in and we didn’t need to.. the score should have been higher than it was in the third set.” “But a wins a win.” Duron added.
