HHS introduced new teachers this school year as well as new class electives. In the beginning of the school year HHS introduced 4 new teachers and reported an increase of students from last year. In March of this year, students began balloting for their classes for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, and electives were included on the ballot with the already popular ASB elective.
A few months ago in March, students from HHS got the opportunity to choose who they wanted to represent for their Associated Student Body Class. For the Sophomore class, Irisbeth Oseguera got voted in as Vice President. For the Junior class, Anelle Sanchez got voted in as the Recorder/Public Relations Officer.
As for things that other students might not notice at HHS, Oseguera says, “it takes a lot of time and effort into planning events.”
As for activities that they are currently working on, Oseguera says, “currently we are working on our homecoming floats.”
As for things and events that are going to happen this year, Oseguera says, “the basics like the haunted house, winter formal, and prom.”
As for Sanchez’s inspiration to be a part of Hughson’s student leadership, she commented, “being able to be more involved in the community and being able to know everything that is going on behind the scenes.”
As for pros and cons about her position, Sanchez added, “you pretty much have a free period and you get to meet new people. A con would be that it takes up a lot of time outside of school hours.”
