One of the top performers from last week’s game was David Delgado. He had 110 receiving yards and 6 tackles. David said, “I felt good going into the game and felt like we had a great game plan and if we did our job we would dominate all 4 quarters of the game.” The senior two-way player also said, “I felt like we started out slow and flat but I knew we had to change to come back even while down because our team has done it before and we didn’t need to worry too much.” Delgado also said, “I felt like we prepared good and just weren’t expecting them to cut block our line.” The all-district defensive back also said, “I felt like we were dominating on defense, like they couldn’t do anything and offensively we were doing good just weren’t expecting them to cut block our line which slowed us down and showed how good they were up front.” David said, “I think I performed pretty good. When my number was called to make big plays I made them. But I couldn’t do it without the line giving me time to get open.” Delgado said, “I give us a B+ grade, we played pretty well in the last three quarters but we didn’t execute overall in the first quarter and throughout the game.” The senior also said, “I think this game against Elite Public Charter is a good game to get our morale up and work on the stuff we messed up on and get ready for Escalon.”
Another one of our top performers from last Friday’s game against Downey High-school was Malakai Sumter. As he had 17 receiving yards, 3 tackles and 2 huge interceptions. Malakai says “my favorite play was when i got my second interception and David catching the ball in the middle of the field Malakai talks about this week coming up saying “I think this Friday is going to be fun for our team because the backups are playing.” Malakai also talks about upcoming homecoming week and games. “To me homecoming doesn’t really change anything because I just focus on football too much, but it does help the football team prepare for a big opponent.” Malakai again talks about homecoming and how fun it can be for student athletes that attend Hughson high school as he states “I feel like it’s always fun when it’s homecoming week and get to dress up and have fun during the week”
