Congratulations to Malakai Sumter for being HHS’s male athlete of the week. Malakai has been recognized for his teamwork and hardworking spirit. At the last football game against Downey, Malakai stood out by getting 2 interceptions helping out hughson by gaining possession of the ball, which lead them to score. Friend and teammate Daniel Sotel said, “he makes jokes and keeps the boys laughing when they feel down.” Friend and teammate Edwin Olivio says, ”Malakai is always a team player, he always steps up when we need him too and always gives it his all.” Malakai has been showing how he is an amazing athlete not only at Downey but against the Central Valley as well, where he was nominated player of the game. Malakai’s response is, “I think it’s pretty cool and would definitely want to get it again.“ Congratulations Malakai, we cannot wait to see where football takes you this year.
Congratulations to Lily Ulrich for being HHS’s female athlete of the week. She’s been recognized for her great sportsmanship and commitment to the girls golf team. Lily is a phenomenal golfer and has shown us that throughout all 4 years she’s been in golf. She’s been TVL all league since sophomore year and team captain for both her senior and junior year. Friend and teammate Morgan Bleakley says, “she’s genuinely the best golfer on our team, she’s so good!” Lily’s response is, “I feel very grateful to have been nominated, especially since it’s my senior year so that makes it even more special!” Lily also has been an HHS scholar athlete since freshman year showing she is an amazing student athlete. Congrats Lily we cannot wait to see how you continue your senior year!
