Mrs. Harvey is the news member of the pack, and Hughson High cannot wait to welcome her! This will be her first year at HHS, taking over Mrs. Maciel’s old classroom and classes. While Harvey may be new to Hughson, this is not her first year teaching. She began the first three years of her teaching career at Merced High School, after graduating from Chico State University. She gravitated towards Hughson after student teaching here and she “knew it was the place I wanted to go.” due to the “small town atmosphere.” and the kindness of the residents!
As for her favorite aspect of her new classroom, “My favorite thing about my classroom is how big it is.”. Harvey wants her students to succeed! While she has many goals for this school year, her highest priorities are to teach students to “step out of their comfort zones” and “learn hands-on skills that they can take with them for the rest of their lives.”. Harvey’s agricultural teachers at Atwater High were her biggest inspirations to become a teacher. Ms. Knapp and Ms. Loimo had a “huge impact on my life” and Harvey wanted to have “that same impact on students’ lives.”
