Congratulations to Richard Stites for being HHS’s male athlete of the week. Richard has been recognized for his determination and overall positivity. Richard is a great athlete, and is very dedicated to his sport and making his coach proud. Friend Claire Venturini said, “He’s dedicated, takes running very seriously, and overall has great sportsmanship.”
Teammate Scarlett Villarreal said, ”For the past 3 weeks he’s been PRing and having huge PR’s every week!”
Richard is a sophomore at HHS and an absolute great student. Richard is very excited to continue growing in cross country.
Congratulations to Sophie Benham for being HHS’s female athlete of the week. Sophie has been recognized for her perseverance. Sophie is a sophomore and is involved in cross country and track. Coach Joel Bernard said, “PERSEVERANCE! This is the first word in our team mantra and nobody embodies that word like Sophie.”
Sophie qualified for the state championships as a freshman last year, she even had her first race since March recently after having a stress fracture in her tibia and WON! Sophie is a great example of a student athlete. She is a straight A student and an absolutely amazing athlete. Teammate Tessa Montero said, “Sophie is so hardworking she’s a great teammate”
Sophie’s response was, “I feel pretty great and happy I worked so hard to get to that point, i was injured for 15 weeks and it took a lot of work to get to that point!”
