Hughson High students and staff are happy to give a warm welcome to Mrs. Kylee Liu! As a HHS alumni, Mrs. Liu is not an unfamiliar face around campus. Her son Oliver is a student at Hughson Elementary School, and her son Wells is a student at Ceres Christian PreSchool. She gained her teaching credentials from CSU Stanislaus. She may be new at Hughson High, but she has 10 years of teaching experience under her belt. She has experience from her time at Ceres and Pitman High school.
Mrs. Liu decided to teach at Hughson because “I live here, and went to school here, so working in my community was a big draw for me and to be on the same schedule as my kids.” Her biggest influence in the teaching world was Dr. Karen Webber, a professor at Stanislaus State University. After hearing about how her father and brother struggled in school, she knew she wanted to become a teacher to help students achieve their academic goals. Liu’s classroom shares this value, as it allows her to work with students at all levels. Her goal for students this school year is to “see them achieve their highest level of success with appropriate supports and educational settings.”
