The season for the Hughson Huskies starts in early June. Players and coaches prepare and work on drills, plays, timing and things like that all summer long. As the summer went on the Hughson Huskies played 7 on 7 at Downey Highschool every week. As the summer continued they started to focus more on traditional football plays with pads and their Husky style of running the ball.
The Huskies started their season playing against Ceres High School. Despite the game having a somewhat slow start for the Huskies, they managed to handle business as the game continued to go on, with the end score being 32-0. The Hughson Huskies got their first Win of the season with it being a non-league win. With this win they focused and prepared for their next opponent in Ceres, the Central Valley Hawks.
As the Hughson Huskies moved onto the next week, they came out with another big win with the end scoring being 56-9! With Robert McDaniel throwing a few pass touchdowns and the Huskies having some rushing touchdowns, they were now 2-0 as they prepare at practice and get ready to play Pitman High School.
With enough preparation and practice the Huskies were ready for Pitman the following Friday. Even though Pitman scored 20, the Huskies once again handled business as the end score of that game was 50-20.
As the Hughson Huskies are undefeated with a 3-0 record, they now play their first big game of the season against the Downey Knights, who were also undefeated. As the game was close the whole time, the Hughson Huskies made a almost promising game winning touchdown that was called back due to a penalty on the field. The penalty lead to the Downey Knights winning the game with a very close score of 19-13. As The Downey Knights continued to be undefeated, making the Huskies 3-1.
The Huskies move onto their homecoming week against Elite Public Charter out of Vallejo. Elite was 2-2 going into the game and did not look promising. The game from the start was not close and ended with Hughson winning 49-20. Robert McDaniel was the key for the Hughson offense as he threw three touchdowns. Hughson now has a bye week before Escalon.
Hughson and Escalon both got a bye so both teams had two weeks to prepare. From the start the game was close. The game was old school, pound the ball down the field offense. Escalon pulled away with the 21-14 win and is now 5-1, while Hughson is 4-2. Hughson now heads into the second TVL game against Livingston this Friday.
