The History of Red Ribbon Week goes back all the way to the 1980’s, more specifically 1988. It started after the death of a Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. Red Ribbon Week started as a celebration sponsored by the NFP and now to this day it serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate their youth and since 1988 it has reached the lives of millions around the world. The main purpose for celebrating Red Ribbon week is to celebrate being drug free.
Red Ribbon Week at HHS is celebrated in the last week of October which is the 23rd-27th. Here at HHS we take pride in being drug free and honoring the lives of those who protect us from drug violence.
