Congratulations to David Burns for being HHS’s male athlete of the week. Although the loss to Escalon last Friday, David was an outstanding player that stood out in the football game. David averaged 8.5 tackles during the game, being more than any other player during the game. David is an outstanding athlete that is well respected by every teammate of his. His teammate Navi described Burns as “versatile” and able to succeed in any position he is put in. He’s a very helpful teammate who is willing to do whatever it takes to make his teammates and coaches proud. Some would argue he is one of the best on the Varsity team this year, and that is well deserved. Congratulations David, continue to work your best this last season.
Congratulations to Kate Cooper for being HHS’s female athlete of the week. Being a student athlete requires you to truly be all in every aspect of life, every single day. This includes time management, health, sleep, recovery, and performance. Kate shows all of these things, she is a great student involved in many things such as volleyball, and drama while staying on top of school and she is doing a great job. Kate is always positive and tries her best. Friend and Teammate Presley Wells says, “ She is always positive and tries her best” Kate was recognized for how well she played at her last game which she did amazing in. We’ve heard nothing but positive things about who she is as a teammate, student, and overall athlete. Congratulations Kate! Hughson High can not wait to see where the rest of your high school career takes you!
