Tyler dropped his 6th studio album, Call Me If You Get Lost, on June 25, 2021. And later added tracks on that album on March 31, 2023, which is called Call Me If You Get Lost : The Estate Sale. Tyler named it Call Me If You Get Lost because as he stated, “Call “me” when you get lost in the world doing your business finding yourself.” And unlike his four first albums, this album’s genre is more of his other latest two albums, Flower Boy and Igor. The genre of this album is Hip hop / Rap and Spoken Word, which is basically poetry hip hop. And unlike Igor with an amazing storyline, CMIYGL doesn’t really have that sadly. The album is a little long with 24 songs, but the album length is good with it being an hour and 17 minutes. The features include DJ Drama, 42 Dugg, Youngboy Never Broke Again, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne, Teezo Touchdown, Domo Genesis, Brent Faiyaz, Fana Hues, DAISY WORLD, Lil Uzi Vert, Pharrel Williams, Vince Staples, and YG.
The intro track, SIR BAUDLEIRE, is a good introduction to what you are gonna be diving into with most tracks in CMIYGL, which is like a tropical-like beat. But nothing crazy since it’s only an intro. CORSO is a good track with a rollercoaster-like feeling with the beat. And him experimenting with the synths and piano is pretty cool in my eyes. LEMONHEAD sounds like a very Tyler song with the beat, bass, and the horns. And Tyler, 42 Dugg, Frank Ocean did solid on the beat. WUSYANAME is a really good R&B plus pop song. It sounds like it should be on his other album, Igor, or has the same genre as it. LUMBERJACK is like a call back to his first few albums, having a loud bass and him rapping more than singing, which is pretty refreshing. HOT WIND BLOWS is a smooth contrast from LUMBERJACK. I love the flutes and the beat overall having a vacation feeling to it. And Lil Wayne was good on this track. And the name and the sample of Penny Goodwin’s “Slow Hot Wind” is a nice touch to the song. MASSA has such a chill vibe to it at the start, but goes a little faster at the end. Personally, one of my favorite tracks on this song, but it does go a bit stale after a while. RUNITUP is nothing too crazy, though I do like the nitro where Tyler talks about how everyone doubted him when he was younger. MANIFESTO is a song that sounds like it’s from his first few albums with odd lyrics. SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE is another chill track . But it sounds like every other Igor or Flower Boy song. But I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE has more of a tropical vibe that I like. But also like other tracks on this album, goes on to be a bit repatative. MOMMA TALK is just Tyler’s mom talking to somebody, and although it really isn’t a song, it’s just cool to see how his mother did a lot for Tyler. RISE is a very Flower Boy like song and I really like that. And the feature of DAISY WORLD was a good idea on Tyler’s part. BLESSED is like another song like MOMMA TALK but really just more dull. JUGGERNAUT is a really different track then the other ones on this album, but it’s still really good. I really like the build up into the faster and more heavy beat, and Tyler, Lil Uzi Vert, and Pharrell were amazing on it. WILSHIRE is just a beat and Tyler talking about him and a girl basically cheating on her boyfriend with Tyler. But this track creates images in your mind and is more of a story being told by Tyler than a song by Tyler which is what I like about it. SAFARI is the last track on CMIYGL and I feel is a good finisher to the first part of the album. And then with the start of The Estate Sale starts with EVERYTHING MUST GO. And it’s another track like SIR BAUDLERIE and is another intro. STUNTMAN is another track like JUGGERNAUT, and it being like JUGGERNAUT, means that it’s another good track. WHAT A DAY is such a good song being a complete contrast to STUNTMAN, and has the same beat as from Bablo Boat from Royce da 5 ‘9’’ and still fits with Tyler’s track. WHARF TALK is another upbeat song from Tyler and it’s pretty good. It also features A$AP ROCKY and he also does well on the track. DOGTOOTH is probably the second best song on The Estate Sale, behind SORRY NOT SORRY. But DOGTOOTH is another upbeat track and is more catchy than WHARF TALK. HEAVEN TO ME is yet another upbeat track, and also being another good track on The Estate Sale. And I really like the sample at the start of the track, Heaven Only Knows from Monk Higgins. BOYFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND are overall good songs. And the YG feature is also good. And lastly, SORRY NOT SORRY is the best song on The Estate Sale, and I don’t know how to explain but it’s just really good.
So in the end, Call Me If You Get Lost is a pretty good album, although it has some flops, but still really good. And The Estate Sale is such a good second part to CMIYGL, and for me, I like the tracks on the second part more than the first. It reminds me of the saying “Quality over quantity.” But both are good.
