A few months ago in March, students from Hughson High School got the opportunity to choose who they wanted to represent for their Associated Student Body Class. Hanalynn Martinez, a senior at HHS, got voted in as the ASB Vice President.
When discussing something that Martinez does that other students at HHS might not notice, she said, “Over the summer I went door to door to every house and business that was on the homecoming parade float route and I had to get their signatures just to let them know that it’s okay.”
When talking about what inspired Martinez to be a part of Hughson’s student leadership, she stated, “Mrs. Rules pulled me out of my second period world history class and she was just asking me if I wanted to do it and I was like sure why not, so Mrs. Ruelas inspired me and now I am ASB Vice President.”
Regarding pros and cons about being the ASB Vice President, Martinez stated, “the pros is that I get to represent our school and I have been for the past three years so it’s just like a nice reward. The cons is that sometimes it can get to you because everyone is going to complain about things but you just have to learn to not let it get to you because you’re not going to please all 870 students at our school.”
When discussing things that are going to happen this year, Martinez said, “we have winter formal which will be in December and then we have dude be kind week which is a week of kindness being kind to others. We have prom that will happen in April and then we have tons of rallies.”
