Tis’ that time of year again! It’s almost Christmas! It’s the perfect time to get comfy on the couch, grab some cocoa, and watch a Christmas movie. Christmas movies are some of the best seasonal films to enjoy. I’m here to give you some of the top-rated and favorite Christmas movies according to IMDb and interviews.
A go-to favorite movie is the legendary Home Alone. It follows an 8-year-old kid who gets accidentally left out of his family’s vacation and must protect his house from two burglars. Another classic would have to be Elf. It is about an elf who grew way bigger than all the other elves and goes to NYC to meet his real father. Another great Christmas movie is The Santa Clause. It is about a man who accidentally makes Santa fall off the roof. When the man picks up and puts on Santa’s jacket, he becomes the next Santa Claus.
Another holiday favorite is National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. It’s about a dad who tries to make the perfect family Christmas, but things don’t turn out as expected. And how could we not mention the iconic Christmas movie, The Grinch? There are three Grinch movies: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is the original animated special made in 1966; then there’s the live-action remake starring Jim Carrey as the Grinch; and lastly, the 2018 computer-animated movie The Grinch, with Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of the Grinch.
Some more holiday classics include A Charlie Brown Christmas. It’s about Charlie Brown, who feels down during the holidays because of all the commercialism, and tries to find out what Christmas is really about. Another special would be Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. It’s about a reindeer named Rudolph, whose dad was one of Santa’s reindeer. Rudolph is expected to join Santa’s team, but his glowing red nose becomes a setback. And the final classic before we get to the interviews is Frosty the Snowman. It’s about a snowman who comes to life from a magician’s hat, and the magician tries to get it back.
Now, let’s see what some people had to say about their favorite Christmas movies. A freshman here said their favorite movie was The Santa Clause. This is a fun classic for sure! They said their favorite character was Santa’s son, Charlie, who is 8 years old and has a tough home situation but always brings joy to others. They like the movie because it’s funny but also realistic. A junior said their favorite movie was also The Santa Clause because of the humor. Lastly, another junior said their favorite Christmas movie was The Christmas Chronicles because it reminded them of watching it with their family. There are plenty of jolly Christmas movies to enjoy this year!
