Covid has impacted everyone around the world in one way or another. For the freshman class of 2025, their last full “normal”  year of school was in the 6th grade. The pandemic has made it to where people couldn’t play the sports they wanted to play, see their family and friends, miss out on events, and so much more. Especially when you think of people who have been affected by covid, most people would describe it made them “upset” or “angry” even, but if you ask them personally their answers might differ from one another. Since the pandemic is somewhat calming down, people are trying to get back to where they feel comfortable once again.

Alissa Young: “Is school life easier now? Or pre-covid?”

Julian Langan: “I would personally say it was easier during pre covid mainly because it was much easier to focus and I had more motivation to do work compared to now.”

Scarlett Villarreal: “Pre-covid”

Alissa Young: “Have you noticed yourself having social anxiety about coming back to school?”

Julian Langan: “Yes I noticed once freshman year began I seemed more anxious than usual.”

Scarlett Villarreal: “Yes, it’s been a bit more stressful.”

Alissa Young: “Is it harder to make friends now because of covid? Or is it easier?”

Julian Langan: “I personally have no comment on this one since I know everybody already, but I definitely have noticed some other kid’s be this way.”

Scarlett Villarreal: “It’s honestly neither, in general it’s always a bit difficult.”

Alissa Young: “What is a good piece of advice you have for fellow students who are really having a hard time transitioning?”

Julian Langan: “advice i have is to pay attention, do your work and keep up with all your assignments.”

Scarlett Villarreal: “What I would tell them is that if you feel bad about yourself  around the person you consider a friend, then maybe you shouldn’t stay friends with that person, and always make new friends.”

As you may know on Friday 2/4 , Class of  2025 freshmen got to experience our annual “freshman conference”.

Alissa Young:  “Did you enjoy the freshman conference?”

Julian Langan: “Yes it was a pretty fun experience, most definitely one I’ll remember.”

Scarlett Villarreal: “Not really, I personally found it somewhat boring.”

Alissa Young: “Do you think the freshman conference wcv as a good way to get students more involved and comfortable with other freshmen?”

Julian Langan: “Yes, I believe it definitely pushed people out of their comfort zone.”

Scarlett Villareal: “No I didn’t, I have already known these people for a while. It would have been more helpful if it was the beginning of the year.”

Alissa Young: “Do you think they should continue having freshman conferences?”

Julian Langan: “Yes, I believe they should. It is a great way for students in the same grade to make new friends and gain teamwork skills and get better at socializing.”

Scarlett Villarreal: “No I don’t think it should continue, it wasn’t really helpful and no one likes to go to the conferences.”
