The Advances of Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality is a computer-generated environment with scenes and objects that appear to be real, making the user feel they are immersed in their surroundings. This environment is perceived through a device known as a virtual reality headset. According to Virtual Reality Times, “Virtual Reality has had some major improvements over the years as the Nova Haptic gloves have come out  which allows you to feel the world and environment around you as well as the haptic suit which also allows you to feel everything .” Virtual Reality Times also said, “For instance, when gripping a tennis ball between your thumbs and forefingers in VR, the fingertips won’t meet and that physical space between them will be filled by the virtual tennis ball so you will need to exert some force to keep the grip on the small sphere.”.According to Road to VR, “At the end of the Quest Gaming Showcase, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg briefly appeared to introduce the world premiere of Ghostbusters VR, an upcoming Quest 2 game built around four player co-op.” Over the years virtual reality has gotten a lot of games such as Half-Life, Superhot, Skyrim, Morrowind, Minecraft and many more. In the future there will be a lot of games not only supported by virtual reality, but they might be exclusive to virtual reality like VRChat, a game made to talk with others and play mini games. According to Road to VR, “Following a report today which claimed Meta’s upcoming Project Cambria headset would be priced at $800, rather than denying the information as a rumor, the company took the curious step of confirming the headset would be much more expensive.” You do not have to pay $800 to enjoy VR as you can  currently also buy the Oculus Quest 2 which recently dropped in price by $100 from $399 to $299.
