The Hughson high school volleyball team showed up to win. In the first set Maddison Jenks (number 15) started on the right side. Playing middle we had Abby Ramsey (number 8). Lastly we had Morgan Bleakley (number 3).

The Huskies started off down in the first set and fought back and had a couple of rallies here and there but they didn’t get a head start to take the win so Mariposa took the win to 25-21. The second set was back and forth, the Huskies got a head start and then there was a tie so they had to score two more points to take the win and the huskies one the second set 27-25.

In the third set Hughson starts off with a lead and keeps it until they win 15-9. Jv coach Jimnez commented, ”I thought the game went well. They kept it close the entire way so it was a nail biter. The team improved on communication and aggressive net play which really helped our outcome. Looking forward to an exciting season!”

In the varsity game against Mariposa, the varsity volleyball starters are Emily Yarbrough an Outside Hitter, Maddie Duron Middle, Brooklyn Olthoff Right Side, Jesse Duron Libreo, Kylie Bosh Back row and Setter Ashtin Brazil. The game went three sets and demolished Mariposas team. The Husky’s defense was a great help to our success along with our hitting from outside Emily Yarbrough. The team went twenty five to thirteen in the first set, working together amazingly. The second set started off slower but then caught up eventually to win the set.

The third set started with Mariposa taking the lead then finished the set with a win from Hughson. After the game our Varsity back row player Angelina Fontana said, “I think we did well but in the second set we started slow and we needed to step on the gas pedal. It’s something we as a team are trying to work on this year.”
