Hughson Huskies Defeat the Ripon Indians

Sophia Sanchez and Presley Wells

Last Friday HHS had a football game against Ripon High School on October 28th. Jv won 3-0. Their last game of the season and they ended it off with a win! Varsity also got their last win of the season but they are still going to the Playoffs. Winning 14-13. Our Huskies showed that they wanted this win. Our quarterbacks on top of every throw and the runners there to score that touchdown. Those boys did not want to take a loss and showed what it is to win. They had amazing spirit in the game. David Burnes and Aiden Ellack were called out by Coach Brown on how good they did. Coach Brown stated “I feel like we started good and came out in the second half a little flat, which is why it got kind of scary in the second half.

Paw Staff Writer, Presley Wells asked him how he felt about making the playoffs. Coach Brown said “I think we put together a great season, 8 and 2 is a really great year for any football team and I think that we earned our number 2 seat, 100% by beating Escalon and Ripon. Once you get into playoffs though it’s kind of like anything can happen, so you don’t want to take advantage of a situation like having the number 2 seat, having first round bye and not a lot of teams get a first round bye, and not a lot of teams get a home playoff game and even less teams get a second home playoff game if we were to win. So we are in a really fortunate spot but the idea is to not take it for granted and to really give the other team we are going to play all of our focus because that could be the last game of the season if we don’t try.”

The student section was roaring as all the kids came out to cheer on the huskies dressed up in their construction outfits. Everyone was up on their feet while the band played a good beat. The Students were ready for the Huskies to defeat. The colors were so bright it blinded the Indians’ sight.
