Have you ever tried freeze dried candy? If you aren’t aware what it is, it is exactly what it sounds like, candy that has been freezed dried! It is done by removing all the water and moisture from the candy! A company known as The Parched Goat has been making these sweets for a little over a year! The business is run by Daniel and Megan McMenimen along with their children.

But let’s hear some more about the owners! Where are they from? Why did they start this business?

Megan McMenimen said, “The Parched Goat was originally started because I was looking to take a break from my teaching career. “  “Our goal was to make allergy friendly backpacking meals but candy was the biggest request so we followed the needs of our customers.” McMenimen continued, “We LOVE selling candy! Traveling around the United States selling candy is kind of a dream job I never knew I wanted. We meet some amazing people and get to make friends from all over the world.”

McMenimen carried on to mention they are also in fact, from Hughson! She explained, “Daniel and I started dating almost 23 years ago. We met at Hughson High after a football game,”  “Cliche, Daniel was a football player and I was a cheerleader. We are now raising our family here and trying to bring more business to our beautiful town.”

Now let’s hear more about their products? What’s popular or the best seller? What is their personal favorite? Where can we look and purchase their products?

McMenimen stated, “Freeze dried Skittles are our best seller, we call them Rainbow Crunch.” She added, “Our other best sellers are Big Hunk, Jolly Ranchers, anything sour along with Tajin candy.” McMenimen noted, “My favorite is the Big Hunk.” McMenimen said, “We always try to create new, different, and unique products. I don’t like doing the same things, it’s boring.”

Lastly she shared that you can purchase from their website, www.TheParchedGoat.com. She also announced, “ Hopefully in March our shop will be open. It will be located between Rico’s Pizza and Chuck’s Butcher shop.” McMenimen also mentioned, “ I would love to spend a lunch period down at the school letting kids try candy. I actually did that over the summer at the elementary and the kids had a blast!”

With that, we look forward to making that idea come true! We hope to plan to make this idea become a reality. At most we plan to hold it this month or next month! Keep your eyes peeled for The Parched Goat! Support our small businesses within our community!
