Ukraine and Russia: 1 Year In

Matthew Richardson, Staff Writer

Well. It’s been a year. A year of conflict overseas for my mother’s side of the family, and a year of endless dogfights. Russia and Ukraine have been, and still are, at war since last year. The situation started out pretty dire for people out there, on both sides. However, ironically, the oppressor has been losing the war. Russia, who decided to attack, has actually lost most of the ground they had gained into Ukraine. Ukraine has been getting a lot of support from the United States and other nations. But enough about that. What about at home for me?

At home, things have relatively calmed down. Mom calls her mother very often, and she seems less worried about the news, though she does keep an eye on it. Other than that, the topic has died down until some very big breakthroughs occur over there.
