Train to Busan Is a Korean Action/Horror movie. If you have seen Korean horror movies you will know that they know how to keep you at the edge of your seats and screaming at your television or whatever mobile device you are watching it off on. The main character, Seok-woo, is played by actor Gong Yoo who has participated in many k-films; one of them being the show that took Netflix and social media by storm and stood in Netflix top 10 charts for 18 weeks. He played as the salesman in squid game, he also was in another popular horror movie based on a true story, “Silenced”, and a very popular drama within the k-fans community, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God. Train to Busan was directed by Yeon Sang-ho. He directed many horror movies and shows such as Hellbound, soul station, and peninsula; the Train to Busan sequel. He is also co-writing a new series, Parasyte: The Grey, the series is based off the hit manga and anime adaptation of parasite written by Hitoshi Iwaaki.
This movie was equally heartbreaking as how scary it was too. An infection started spreading that turned people into man-eating zombies. It’s believed the outbreak started because of a chemical leak in the biological factory in the countryside of south korea at Seok-woo’s company. The infection spread very fast and no one knew about what was going on even when they entered the train heading to Busan. Seok-woo was on the train with his daughter, Su-an. He and his ex-wife divorced and took turns taking care of her, though he was always busy and missed many important events, so Su-an got upset because he didn’t go to her recital where she sang for him so seok-woo took a early morning train to busan to drop her off at her moms. The infection spread inside the train when one infected passenger entered the cart last minute to get help, but attacked the attendant tending to her and then infected the other passengers. The remaining passengers locked their carts to keep them from spreading.
Train to Busan is a good horror movie that makes you feel all the feels. The adrenaline at the beginning from when the outbreak started on the train, the anxiety during all those close calls on getting attacked, and sadness when one of the passengers dies and gets hurt but that is inevitable to happen in zombie outbreak movies. This movie made me cry a lot and it probably will make you cry too, like it did to many people who watched it so you might wanna prepare tissues and some blankets or a pillow as a form of comfort or a companion. When you finish watching this movie and want to know what happens next, you can watch Peninsula, the sequel to Train to Busan. I haven’t finished it yet but I’m sure I will enjoy it too.
