On March 10th, the newest movie of the scream franchise was released. Scream 6 stars Jenna Ortega as Tara, and Melissa Barrera plays Sam carpenter. Both of them are sisters and victims of another attack from Sam’s ex-boyfriend and girlfriend Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid) and Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison) who had a huge obsession with billy loomis and saw him as their idol. Sam also came from a line of Ghostface like their father, the original ghost face, Billy Loomis (appears in Scream 1). After the killing spree that took place in Woodsboro from the previous movie, Tara attended college in New York, Sam followed her there in fear for her safety and basically turned into a helicopter sister which Tara didn’t like and would sneak out whenever she had the chance. Some legendary characters from past Scream movies appeared like Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox- Scream 2) and Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere- Scream 4). They all team up along with Taras friend’s from high school like Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad Meeks (Mason Gooding) they are also survivors from the murders in Woodsboro.

So far all I’ve heard are good reviews for this movie and I believe it is too. For a horror movie it wasn’t very gory, not like other movies i’ve seen, but it still is pretty gory. There also was plot twist after plot twist and it makes you double guess yourself and wary of all the other characters; it makes you wonder if you can really trust them. It is also revealed in the beginning of the movie that just like Sam’s father, Sam also has some tendencies but never acted on it with anyone other than the time she defended herself against her ex-boyfriend in Scream 5. Because of this she became labeled a murderer even though it was through self defense, and became the number one suspect. She cannot go outside without being called obscenities or being threatened. Now, he’s back and he will stop at nothing attacking everyone and everything to make Sam’s life miserable by going as far as threatening her younger sister and friends that had nothing to do with Ghostface in any of the previous stories.

Right now you could only watch it in your local theaters, though I’m pretty sure you can find it online somewhere. There is some references in this movie from the previous films in the franchise so you can watch those too, although you don’t really have to if you just want to watch Scream 6 because your favorite actor/actress is in there, you can just watch Scream 5 along with this film but you also can watch it by itself if you choose too. I enjoyed this movie but just because I liked it doesn’t mean it’s my favorite one ever. What’s your favorite scary movie?
